Our Newborn Cloth Diaper Stash

Newborn Cloth Diaper Stash // prefolds + covers

A common post found in cloth diaper boards: Stash photos. Cloth diapering is easy to obsess over (there are SO many fun and cute options), and the resulting diaper stash photos from this addiction are entertaining. I'm amazed, especially as all I can see once I get past the initial "oh, that diaper's cute," is the dollar signs that accompanies such an impressive stash.

I don't post on these conversations, because, well, my stash would get laughed off-line. But I've realized that I do have place to brag in a different category--smallest stash. I'm pretty proud of our small stash and how these few items perfectly fit our cloth diapering needs.

So, I hold my head high when I show you a sampling of our cloth diaper stash.

Cloth Diapers Sampled in Picture...

1. 12 newborn prefolds
2. 24 small prefolds
3. 1 medium prefold (to decide if we would use medium or skip to large)
4. 2 one-size covers (to decide if we liked them)
5. 1 fun-print cover (it was a gift)
6. 6 Thirsties Duo Wraps, size 1

Cloth Diapering Essentials Not Shown in Picture...

1 pail liner (Planet Wise)
3 snappis (size 1)
2 small zippered wet bags (for on-the-go)
48 cloth wipes (baby wash cloths)

These cloth diapers and products...

...get us through 2 to 2 1/2 days between washes;
...could last us through up to 6-months-old (depends on size of baby; our 11-pound newborn is now 3-months and has slowed his growth a bit at 15 pounds); and
...cost under $250.00 new.

Thoughts on our stash...

Already I'm feeling like we could have done without the one-size diaper covers, which would have saved us $40+. (We bought it to use for our preschooler at nap and night while she potty trains, but it's impractical for a newborn or babies with messy poop, and the microfiber inserts stink.) I love the fun print, but it's a pricey cover that we enjoy because it was a gift. Our baby still fits in these products (except the newborn prefolds; he was out of those almost from birth) as a 3-month-old and seems like he'll still have a couple months left in them.
